Fun spring!

Last Saturday, after working in the yard as long as we wanted to, we jumped in the car and headed for one of our favorite little tea rooms. Very casual, good sandwiches, soup, salads and desserts at a cheap price...Candleberry Tea Room isn't as fancy as other places like it, but we enjoy the ride and the visit. We ended our meal with a pie named "Paradise Pie" and a ride around Frankfort!

I love the pond and enjoy it even as the sun sets!

This flower & holder "Home Sweet Home" was given to me at my last STLP meeting today by a couple of students. I love it:)

End of Week

Saturday is now coming quickly to an end and I, frankly, am ready for bed. However, I look back and see that I need to post an entry since it's been a week already. The week, at a glance, was good at school. Busy in the evenings, and fun so far this weekend.

On Friday night, we decided to go for a short ride in the convertible since colder weather was coming. It was warm, but rather cloudy. Before we got back home, it was beginning to rain. We love to eat at Darlin' Jeans in Midway, and I LOVE the ride there, so that's where we headed. The food was just as good as I knew it would be. Clyde got the fish & chips, that came with, honestly, more french fries than we have ever received in any order. He said the fish was as good as the fish & chips at Bubba Gumps...which he loves:) I got the bagel melt that is always "delish" it is made on an asiago cheese bagel. My side was a baked potato casserole, which is too good to describe.

Then we drove to Kroger in Beaumont to get a DVD....we had never seen "What Happened to the Morgans" so we got that. It was good and we enjoyed watching it. While at Krogers, I looked at flowers (too early, but hey I was there). The large urns were on sale for 25% off. We went home, changed shoes & cars, headed back to buy two flats of flowers (again, too early...but hey I bought 4 large round urns).....hope my purchases don't get frost bit and hope the urns hold up! Had the most fun on Sat. at the boys game. They didn't win for the second week, but they both did better than last week. Matthew was most improved as he hit the ball and ran to first (last week he didn't run to the base). Then he got to run to second. He was fast and the coach bragged on him. Austin got to score twice this week...he gets on base, and has a good hitter after him! We know the Mets may not win any (or hopefully a few) games this season, but the coach is very nice and I know for a fact the boys will improve. I will post a few pics now then head to bed:)

First t-ball game!

Last year Austin said many times "nana I'm a baseball boy".....now, his little dreams are coming true. Tonight was he and Matthew's first t-ball game. They play for the Mets, on a very young team. I believe there are only four returning players. Up to the plate first was Austin. He got a hit and got on base. Next bat, big hitter that overran Austin, as Austin stopped between 1st & 2nd. He ended up on 2nd with the other batter out. After another hit or two, Austin got to run in and made the first score of the season:) Matthew got to bat the second inning and got a hit. However, he hasn't got the hang of dropping his bat and running. He stands there...we're not sure why. He did this at practice yesterday, Becky said. Hopefully, as all this comes together, he will get it and go. However, the Mets lost by quite a bit (thankfully I forgot the score!) My mom (mamaw), Kent, Kimmie, Uncle Jason, joined me, Becky, Maggie & Jason K. at the game. Clyde had to work late and is still at work (9:00) so he missed the game:( Austin just called to talk to pap and I had to tell him he was still at work. The best thing the boys did was to be in position in the field. They had their hands on their knees and ran to back up the ball. Austin was paying close attention and that was a good thing for him. They both seemed to listen to the coach. I was proud!

They were given orange balloons & suckers. The boys were so good to wait until after the running of the bases to eat their suckers. Austin let his balloon go, Matthew chose to keep his. Look at that big smile and sweet face on M. Becky called to see if they had fun. I asked them and they said "yes, we had fun"...they seemed to follow directions well and were very good.

They were handed out jerseys, Matthew #2, Austin #10.

Each team was called out on the intercom, name of coach mentioned, and they got to run the bases. Pap said the boys hustled around the bases real well.

Becky & Jason had a get together with some that went to Spain with her, and she hated missing it as well as this. We picked up the boys at Tots, Jessica brought MJ to us and after snacks at nana's house...off we went to Shillito's Park. First game is this Monday:) Fun days ahead.

Easter & Spring Break

After church on Easter Sunday, then off to Vernon & Sue's for family dinner.

Last Day

We went to St. Augustine yesterday to get out of the sun for the afternoon. Becky, you mentioned my tan, the photos really do look like I have soaked it up, and today may prove to be true (if I ever get out!) but my legs and arms aren't showing a real "tan line"...anyway, another beautiful day in Ky. and Fl. so I am happy.
Sorry I didn't say a lot about granny, Bec. This came about after we were on the road last week. She had a blocked artery in her neck and needed to have a stint but it was too heavily blocked, so they did the "cleaning out"....I don't know how to spell "corroded"but she is home and doing well. Papaw's procedue took a long time yesterday (Thurs.) but Kent said he was home and resting. Mom had a long day and was still out when I called last night. They both have to learn how to "remove" the fluid now...a doctor from Hospice was coming today to show them how (Kent said they didn't pick it up well at the hospital).....
Yesterday was great. I hadn't been there in a very long time. The city reminded me of Savannah with all the little shops to walk through. I was in Heaven getting a large box of candy from the candy store. We ate at a very reasonable rest. called O'Steens (someone here recommended it) then last night we ate at a rest. in Ormond someone else recommended and I would recommend it to anyone looking for BIG meals at a CHEAP price. The potpie was just as good as the man here said it would be. Only on Thursdays can you get them and he said we would have to call ahead. We didn't and we both got one. SO good, deep and for a salad and pie it was $7.99. All the food around us looked just as big and just as good for under $8.00. Clean small American all around restaurant...not on the water or fun to be in like Bubba Gumps, but very good!

Lovin' the Beach

This week has been restful and beautiful. We have walked a couple of times each day. The sun was hot today and my chest is red with some break out bumps:( I should have been more careful, but after missing a couple of days due to clouds, we are soaking it up. Tonight we ate at Aunt Catfish' and love the hot bar as well as the HUGE salad bar. I got fried catfish and a sweet potato as sides. Everyone had a great meal. This one family ate there tonight from our recommendation and they thanked us over again.
As far as home, granny is still in ICU, she should come home on Thursday; Bev says daddy is going into the hospital in the morning to get a permanent tube in so his abdomen will drain without having to keep having them come to drain it....my brother in law, Glen, is having surgery to remove a kidney and on a much lighter side, Matthew had a fever at daycare today. So, everyone needs a little prayer if you have the time:) Thanks all.
