Flowers, Summer Rides, and Butterflies!

Summer came and soon summer will be over.  Students have returned to the classroom, teachers & staff as well, but the heat is still on, summer is still here...just for awhile!  We took two weeks off and went to Jensen the last of July, first two weeks of August.  While there, the weeds grew!  With the rain and help from our good neighbor, the flowers grew as well.  The week we returned home, we hosted my family for dinner to honor Stephanie & Ben's upcoming wedding.  It was a good night.

Here are a few photos of the end of summer flowers out front and back.  I spend most of the time outdoors, out back.  All the pink impatients are volunteer.  They come back year after year after year.  Also, I don't have them pictured, the cleome comes back as well.  Some call it "Cat's Whiskers" and it pops up under the basketball goal without fail and blooms around the 4th of July.  They look like "fireworks" to me.  So pretty!  The seeds are easy to save if anyone wants any to plant next spring!

The hanging flower baskets (getting leggy by Aug) are hanging on a very old hay rake that was Clyde's great uncles.  We have had it for many years.

 I love butterflies & hummingbirds!

This had been a rainy week and the afternoon of this day, Aug. 19th, it stopped!  We were able to set up tables outside and on the patio.  Whew!  Thankful!!

Aug. 23, Tricia and Maggie compared height and plan to do it on the last day of 3rd grade!
We had a few games (six!) before the girls caught up with the guys.  A good time to stop!

Maggie & pap playing pickle ball (just volleying the ball back & forth).

Aug. 25th, (tonight) a perfect ride to Windy Corner for dinner.
I made this pic very big to see the pretty Kentucky horses by the barn.  We were driving by so not a sharp photo, but the stone wall has history!

I love a pretty sunset!  You could see the suns rays coming through the clouds.  Many of these photos I have on FB but I like to keep a record here on my little blog.  Also, I know only those that really care to look through so many pics come by here.  Thanks for stopping!
