Summer fun for everyone!

We loved the aquatic center in Nicholasville. The boys had so much fun. Matthew wore a swimmers vest in the big pool so that he could "go" anywhere. He isn't afraid to go under or down any slide. Austin is more cautious. He loves following Matthew up the slide but he comes back down the steps. We were very proud of Austin when we first arrived. There was a very big slide (Matthew wasn't tall enough) and Austin went up, and came down on his own. Becky was in the pool at the bottom, but AP had the nerve to come down! Yeah.
Thank goodness for a ten minute break each hour....for Nana.
This is in the car about two minutes after we got in! They were all played out and got a little too much sun!

Camping

Today is Jason's 32nd birthday. He is celebrating with friends at the lake by renting a cabin and a pontoon boat. He works hard and takes very little time off, so I am wishing him a great weekend. Here's hoping the weather stays dry and warm!

The photo above was taken very early this morning after a night with the boys in the tent. Austin has taken over the love of camping from his uncle Jason and his mom. When they were young, we started off by taking them tent camping (larger than the one above). Then we bought a couple of pop up campers. We sure made many fun memories. All of us loved camping.

This is a picture of Colby, Tricia and David's grandson. I started off this morning by going over to Tricia's house to walk with them. Colby is a precious baby boy and so cute! Kelli and Eric are great parents.

Yard Activity

If I watch carefully in the morning, the little bunny hops by. I can't get too close, so this was taken from across the yard.

This is a LARGE butterfly bush in the back that gets a very good "haircut" each year. Then it grows back bigger than ever. The butterflies love it...so do I!

Colorful Glads

It is rainy out today, not coming down as we need, but a slight shower now and then. I cut some beautiful glads (gladiola...spelling?), and put them in a vase on the porch. They were an unusual color....I don't have many, but I have cut white and yellow before these.

There is nothing worse for me than wasting time! I do it a lot, so I should be used to it. I typed an entire entry earlier, along with 4 or 5 pictures and "poof"....mouse froze. So, I'll try again. I never "resay" what I said the first time! I had the three grandkids this morning so Becky could "go in peace" to the dentist. It's sad when her only "get away" is to the dentist, and she looked forward to it! I am kidding, nothing was said along those lines at all. I loved having them and she came straight back....however, I was so tired afterward, I took a shower and watched the food network for 2 hrs. (well almost!)

I got a call from my friend from CME, Brenda, saying she is a new grandma! Congratulations to this fine family. I love Brenda and always look forward to seeing her in the fall. She has a sense of humor that "cracks me up". Anyway, I would post more about her newest addition, but I don't know how much they blog about personal things....so, I'll look forward to seeing pictures when school starts.

As I sit here trying to get this posted, I see flowers that are wilting...where was the fine rain mom got at her house yesterday? We didn't get a drop here. We needed it~!

To me, this was the best thing Clyde has ever done...no amount of money could replace the hours of fun the kids have swinging and sliding. Thanks Pap!

The boys brought school work to do. I am amazed at how much better Austin stays in the lines. Matthew had beautiful "coloring" all along; he could draw you an animal that looked like itself. Now they both are improving! I love them dearly. They are such good boys.

They have landed! I was one happy nana to see Matthew, Austin, Maggie and, oh yeah, Becky and Jason as they descended the escalator. I was the one jumping up and down at the fence as their airplane taxied at arrival. There were a few tears of joy! Their week was a good one, they loved the Gulf coast....small to no waves....clear water....good food and family. We had to take two cars to pick them up and back to reality quickly. They looked tanned and I got lots of kisses. Here are a few photos at the airport.

Bev. When there is seed in the feeder, the Cardinals (male and female) visit often. Today, I sat on the porch with a friend and we both mentioned how the Cardinals were busy. I also saw a Humingbird visit the Butterfly bush briefly. So, to answer your question about the Cardinal activity, they are there much of the day. Outside our bedroom window is a big evergreen. They fly in and out of it a lot, so they may have their nest there.

You are welcome to set up camp on the lounge chair back there but keep it at a little distance if you want much activity. I notice they rarely come when I am working in the yard. Whether we are home or not, you can feel free to use the back porch to set your things or move any chair wherever you need it. If Larry is with you, bring the other lawn chair up beside the pond one...one may be sitting back by the swingset. Good luck on your photo contest...wherever you find the right bird!
