Hello from Eagle, Colorado! We just arrived here while driving through Glenwood Springs. It was spectacular. This is where my best highschool friend, Janice (Smith) Bevins lived for years before she and her husband moved to Africa a couple of years ago. Driving along the Colorado River that wound through Glenwood Springs with the canyon walls following along the way, it made tears come to my eyes. I was so glad she has lived in such a beautiful place for so long while she was away from her Lexington family.
We came here which was a little off our path to stay at the motel that Terry Meenach helped build. He lived here for the year or so while he worked here. It's name is AmericInn and I love it. It is beautiful! We have a wonderful suite with a living room, nice dressing room, and big bedroom. It is much nicer than we EVER stay for a lot less money...free! Thanks Terry...we owe you. After posting this, we plan to run down to the hot tub...if I hurry...Clyde is worn out.
Today we started from Bryce Canyon and traveled to Arches National Park in Utah. Arches was fine but after seeing all the beautiful canyons, the formations were just OK to me! I am spoiled. They really were amazing, but the surrounding area just wasn't beautiful. Back in Colorado, the scenery is again awesome. Tomorrow we will travel to Aspen, Independence Pass and the Rockies National Park. Busy day. Thanks, Bev, for your support and prayers. Each great photo shot, I think of you. P.S. Bev & Martha, check your calendars and see if we can have a celebration of dad's birthday at our house. I will make a short (!) movie to share. However, if the family (mom) wants to go out, we are 100% OK either way.
Deb, these pictures are fabulous!!!! I'm having a hard time keeping the green-eyed monster off my back!!! You are certainly seeing the best America has to offer!! You will love the Rocky Mountain National Park -- especially if you see elk or big-horned sheep (they will be on the topmost points on real rocky areas). Independence Pass is awesome!! You really do have a busy day planned - I don't see how you're going to do it all - but have a blast!!! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThose are great pictures! We miss you all tons, but we're glad you're having such a great time and seeing beautiful places you've never seen before. Sounds like Terry hooked you all up! How nice! The boys have enjoyed getting the postcards in the mail, especially the train one. Matthew still talks about Nana and Pap on the train. We're doing great. Jennifer and Nick babysat on Sunday night. We went running, to eat, and to a movie. Yesterday I planted the Cherry tree by myself! I think we're going to go to Mad Potter or to a scrapbook store today. I want the boys to have a book of all their artwork with pictures on top to make a quick scrapbook. We have LG at our house on Friday. Can I cook dinner for Father's Day? Will you all be back? Our carpet should be in sometime this week!! Have a good day! We love you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDeb - These pictures bring back good memories for me and I am so glad you are having such a good time. There is so much to see and we haven't been to very many of the places out West that we would love to see. Maybe if Glen gets to slow down at work ever we can go. Are you talking about getting together at your house for Father's Day/Dad's birthday on Father's Day - Sunday? Mom ask me to try to find out what we are going to do and I need to let me girls know so they can plan. Please don't make it too hard on yourself - we can look somewhere else to get together Sunday. You won't have to cook anything at all, but still you might be exhausted! Just let me know. Love - Martha
