Jensen Beach Second post

I haven't taken many photos, or have much to blog about, but I want to keep up with my days so that I can look back at what we did and where we have eaten.  Today is Wednesday, my first BSF day here.  It also was the nicest weather day so far.  Sunny, 77 degrees, no clouds, no wind, no humidity.....a picture perfect day.

Tomorrow it will be one week since we left home.  The weather there is very cold.  Dangerously so.  In the teens today, and may be zero tonight.  I pray for all my family and friends at home.  God bless the elderly, the babies, children going to school and any having to work outside.  

Today, we went to Stuart and I enjoyed meeting with other women for BSF.  I was welcomed by everyone.  Clyde got the Highlander's oil changed, then we looked for a quaint place to eat.  Someone recommended Flanigans and it was as good as they said.  Reasonable prices with lunch specials.  

 It wasn't exactly quaint, or on the water, but good food, fun atmosphere.  We enjoyed it and hope to go back.

 These two photos were taken near our Holiday Out where we were riding bikes before supper.  The sun was setting and it was a nice view.  We stopped and spoke with a man that had a place overlooking this water.  Where we are (HO) there are no water sites, but this is another park connected (Venture).  The end of a perfect weather day.

We went to play shuffleboard on Monday with a group, but when we arrived, they were playing in a tournament that lasts all winter.  If you don't stay here until March, you can't join (they keep score all winter).  The courts were awesome so he and I played a game for fun.  Hmmmm, look at that score.  106 to 91.....Debbie's game!

Clyde and I tried line dancing yesterday.  We were not good!  We will go back next Monday, but I am not thinking it will go much better.  

Our friend, D,  took this picture while we were sitting out on the Jensen Beach yesterday.  Clyde and I brought a few chairs, but nothing that worked on the beach well.  So today we went to Sams and bought a low chair that has a back that lays back, with a cup holder, and a little bump for my head.  We also picked up another beach towel and may go back for an umbrella.  We hope to use all these lots!

 We went to our friend's trailer to watch the UK ballgame (Ole Miss) and this is Timber.  Sweet dog!!!  We pulled out a victory but it was a nail biter.

Clyde is over at the clubhouse playing Euchre.  He hasn't played for many years so I hope he catches on quickly and has a good time with other men (and women).  Tomorrow is Seaside Cafe that we will most likely eat.  Nothing healthy!  A very good time eating with others with a good view of the ocean.   I'll close now, thinking of my grandkids that I haven't seen or spoken to this week!  I miss them, but I know they are busy and doing well!  I hope they don't forget us!!!

Changes

Just like the weather, life changes in the blink of an eye.  This post will be random, my thoughts are jumbled, so it may not make a lot of sense.  Most people would think we see our grandkids often enough.  But to me, not so much.  Where did the time go that Austin would come help pick up sticks?  Maggie come jump in the leaves?  Matthew come climb any tree we would allow?  They love us, this I know.  They love their friends, their neighborhood too.  This is how we want it.  I am very happy they moved into a place where the kids play outside....jump on the neighbors trampoline, play in their basement with the neighbor kids, play tag, football on the corner of their yard with a group of boys, have tea parties in Maggie's room, enjoy life! 

Tonight we had them, the boys came in and are watching football with pap.  MJ was the only one that read a story with nana.  Now, I didn't ask the boys, as I don't make them choose (yes, I know I would lose:) but time is changing them.  In a good way, as they are growing.  Making choices, deciding which kids are "good" and which are making poor choices.  I know they don't always make the wisest decisions.  They are kids.  They are good.  I love them lots.  I have faith they will make good friends, as they have so far.  

 Becky & Jason have gone to the Garth Brooks concert with his sister Amy & her boyfriend, Jason (yes, three Jason's:) we have the kiddos overnight and taking them to church in the morning.  I hear pap and Austin finishing the Auburn game just now.  They have such good conversations as they watch....I can tell Austin knows so much about sports in general.  He is able to talk about baseball, basketball, football (which is his favorite, although he has not played on a "team").  Matthew didn't make it through the game, he plays hard and then goes to sleep in a hurry.  Both boys are nine now and Maggie, six.  Lucas will be one in a week.  

I titled this post, Changes.  As fall turns into winter, Clyde and I will be leaving for Florida in January.  This is new for us to take a month and head south.  He is still working, so he will be taking time off work.  I keep Lukie boy two days a week and go to BSF one morning a week.  I go see mom a few times a week.  She will be 88 when we leave and Lucas will be growing like a weed.  The kids will be playing basketball and we will be far away.  They won't miss us like they did when they were little...we were with them more often and they were not so busy.  Again, this is OK.  I know they will miss us but they will be fine.  We will miss them most.

The boys watched football with pap, and MJ and I read a bedtime story.  Don't blink....pap cherishes the times he watches sports with Austin (Matthew will be asleep in a minute, while Austin is awake until the end of any game) but I used to have three listening to a story at bedtime.

 Another big change in our Baker family, Sarah & Jon are moving to Seattle on Nov. 9th.  This is a breakfast with granny to say goodbye for now.  They won't be coming home for the holidays.

 Lucas and nana handing out candy at our "no camping" weekend at the Horse Park campground.  We sold the RV in August, but Becky and Jason had the site from last year (you have to secure it for Halloween the year before).  So, the kids, nana & pap came for trick or treating, while Jason & Rosemary and Becky & Jason went to the UK ballgame.

 I love the picture above & below this.  These are wooden block shapes that we gave Jason Allen when he was a toddler.  He played with them, Becky played with them then Austin & Maggie played with them....as well as Matthew.  Now Lucas plays with them.

 One of our favorite pastimes is playing at the mall.  Today, he climbed up on this white play bench all be himself.

 At the Horse Park, he was a pumpkin.  On Halloween night, giving out candy, he was a race car driver.  His first trick or treat.  He is a treat.

 Above (Matthew is a shadow) we visited mamaw and Uncle Kent on Halloween.

 This is a good picture of Matthew and his first grandpa, Kent.  Kent loves it when Matthew sits with him and talks to him.  He also comes to see Matthew play baseball.

Lake Cumberland

Jack was the perfect captain!  He made sure we all did exactly what we wanted on this very restful weekend.

We arrived on Friday to stay with Jack & Cheryl at their lake home on Cumberland Lake.  It was raining, so we didn't go early but we were able to take a short boat ride.

Jack grilled chicken kabobs, onions, mushroom & peppers...yummo!

They have a nice view of the lake from their deck.

This isn't a very good picture of our meal, but the fellowship was the best anyway.  Along with the kabobs, we had a lettuce layer salad, green beans with new potatoes, rice, and three kinds of desserts!

Anyone that know the Bullocks, know they are card sharks.  That goes for any game they play.  Super competitive, in a good way!  We drew names for partners, and team "Pam & Clyde" were the grand champions!

David Henson is actually one of the nicest, most helpful, thoughtful (awww) men you would ever meet.  He, Jack & David G. (both I could say the same) are chatting after breakfast on Sat.

Tricia & Pam enjoying breakfast, that Cheryl cooked.  It was the most perfect eggs, cooked to order!  

Cooper was such a nice dog with good manners.  She likes plastic water bottles and she and Tricia are playing tug of war.

Jack had Little Big Town's song, "On the Pontoon" playing over the boat as we took off.  Saturday weather was uncertain, and it turned out so nice.  Some clouds, some sun, and just warm enough not to be hot!

No matter how rare it is to get with friends, when we do, it's like we have never been apart.  Nice time catching up with Pam!

Summer Garden

When we moved to Lantern Way, there was a concrete patio type table on the outside of our actual patio.  It was under a tree and the tree roots had wrapped around the bench, so we never tried to move it.  This area was an eyesore, with stepping "rocks" and dirt.  So, although it is NOT as nice as it could be, we have made improvements there, with mulch!  I like it way better.  We moved the table (thanks Jerry & Harley) for the help, to the fire pit and bought new benches for it....this time curved ones and three of them.  Not sure how often this table will be used, but it's away from the house with new "seats".
I used ivy, impatients, etc., that was in our yard to fill the pots that I added there.  I wanted to make it a "fairy" garden, but don't have the ambition for that now.  I did add some "fairies".  

The pic above was taken after the concrete table was moved to the yard.  Hard to plant anything here with the tree roots, I thank God for the old farm tree.  Shade!!!

 The only thing I bought new was the yellow clay pots.  They were unpainted and I thought I wanted to add the grandkids hand/foot prints.  This was not easy.  They were at ball tourneys all weekend and when I had Luke last Thursday, he didn't actually cooperate!  So, his footprint is on one pot, but not very well!  I wound up just sponge painting them.  I tried large "dots", but again, I am not very crafty and they looked bad.  Random sponge design.

 I used plants out of the yard to fill all the containers here.

 Had to throw in one of Luke from this morning.  Happy boy.
